Welcome to a new series of challenges which I will hopefully be posting every week (no promises). In each post, I will go over the answer to the previous post, and then put the next challenge at the end for you to solve.
Obviously there's no solution this week, so let's get straight into the problem.
This one's fairly simple, yet difficult. Basically, you must use two 3's and two 8's to get the number 24 exactly. You must use every number and you can't join the numbers so that a 3 and an 8 will make 38. You also can't use powers, factorials, square roots or anything like that. Only the four major operations ( +, -, *, / ). There are no tricks in this one, just fun (maybe).
P.S. I nabbed this one from Adam Spencer's Top 100, which is a great book that you should buy.
Have fun!

Are we supposed to actually put the answer in the comments(I'd assume we are)?
ReplyDeleteYou can if you want. I guess just don't look at the comments if you want to give it a go.
